How Does Create Worksheets work?

»  Lets say you want to create a workbook with a calendar for each month. All you would need to do is create the basic calendar layout once. Now type the names of the months in the worksheet names list, select the copy of a template, and select the basic calendar template. Now run the macro and the macro will create new worksheets using that template and naming the tabs the names of the months.

See the step by step example below:

Note

»  Macros can't be undone. Save your work before running any macro. If the macro doesn't function as you expected simply close your workbook WITHOUT saving. Then reopen the workbook and everything should be the same as before you ran the macro.

Step One

»  First create a layout for the calendar to use as a template. Do not close the workbook when you are finished with the template. I created a layout for a calendar shown below in figure 1.
NOTE: When opening the workbook you may or may not have been prompted to disable/enable macros. You will need to enable macros for the macro work. If you clicked disable when opening this workbook, simply close this workbook and reopen it enabling macros.

(Figure 1)

Step Two

»  Open Create Worksheets and type in the names of the months in the Worksheet Names List. Note if Excel prompts you to disable/enable macros, you must click enable macros for the macro to work.

Step Three

»  Select "Copy of a Template". Now select the workbook that contains the template and last select the template worksheet. See Figure 2 below

(Figure 2)

Step Four

»  Now your ready to run the macro. Click the Start Button. When the macro is finished you should have a new workbook with the names of the months as the tab names and all the worksheets should look like the template. See Figure 3

(Figure 3)

The macro doesn't run, What is wrong?

»  If the macro doesn't even start it could be because the security settings in Excel are too restrictive. I suggest setting the macro security on medium. This will prompt you to choose between enabling and disabling macros in a workbook. To see your settings or change your current settings click Tools-->Macro-->Security. Look under the Security Level tab, you can change the setting from low, medium, or high. If you choose high this will always disable macros and Worksheet Sort will not run.
